Capturing the Bond: An Evening with Ashlyn and Brooks

When Ashlyn’s mom and I connected about a family documentary session, the idea quickly shifted into something even more meaningful. Ashlyn has been raising Brooks, her steer, to show this year and with life getting busier, they both realized that time spent with her animals might become more limited. They wanted to capture these everyday moments together—moments that are simple yet filled with so much pride and care.

We spent an evening together at the Texas City Agriculture Barn and I got to follow along as Ashlyn bathed, groomed and exercised Brooks. It was truly a joy to see her dedication and the bond she’s built with him. Watching her take such great care was heartwarming, and I could tell these are moments Ashlyn and her mom will cherish forever.

Of course, being in a barn means you have to be prepared for the unexpected, and yes, things got a little messy! But hey, that's part of the fun! 😊
